About UsRailhead Vision Systems is one of three divisions encompassing Railhead Corporation founded in 1964. Although we specializes in mobile applications, RVS now offers platform video within the transportation industry.
Our story begins with our first video installation on Amtrak in 1995, thus making us a true pioneer in the industry. The video systems installed on Amtrak had their own specific objective. The system was equipped in a cab car comprising of a forward facing camera, microphone and recorder. It was designed to catch trespassers and vehicles going around the crossing gates.
Another system was installed on a switcher locomotive consisting of a camera and monitor. This system was designed to cover the blind spots on the locomotive during switching operations.
Technology has come a long way since those first installations fifteen years ago. We are now able to view up to 16 channels of live wireless video, synchronize with GPS time and maps, synchronize with and remotely view Event Recorder Data, and now we even offer Stand Alone Systems for commuter platforms utilizing the same proven software in our mobile platform.
We work both in aftermarket and OEM with many makes and models of locomotives and cab cars. Our primary strength has always been our ability to customize the solution to the job. New technology always brings questions, our excellent field support and in-house customer service is the corner stone of our business.
RVS is proud to have over 1000 installations to date. Our customer portfolio includes Commuter Rail Agencies, Regional, and Short lines.

Testimonials This technology will allow us to go back and recreate a situation so that we can know for sure exactly what happened on one of our trains. It's like having a second set of eyes around at all times to make sure safety practices are being followed. - NM Sec. of Trans. Rhonda Faught
